diy shamrock plant pot + pennywise wednesday #9

I’m getting in gear for transforming my home decor for spring. There’s always this little “pause” that happens around this time of year in switching over to the spring decor because of a little green holiday that falls on March 17. I’m an includer so I hate it when something or someone gets left out. Thus I’ve prepared a few St. Patrick’s Day ideas squeezed in between these winter months and springtime. (You can check out my St. Patrick’s Day cupcake toppers and fonts on my holiday page, here.)

On a recent excursion to Atlanta with my mom and sister, we spent some time doing some shopping at stores that we don’t have in the Nashville area. One of those fantastic stores is Ikea. Now, if you’ve been to Ikea, you’ve likely experienced this sensation that you’ve been dumped into the middle of the hub of home decor, with winding hallways, and bright yellow signs pointing you in every which way towards hundreds and hundreds of awesome items for the home. For some it can be overwhelming. For me, it’s my happy place.

Seeing as I could spend hour upon hour wandering through the showrooms of Ikea, I set out with a few goals in mind. One of which was to find some accouterments for my spring mantel (which you’ll be able to see completed soon here), which included finding plant pots that I could transform for St. Patty’s Day. With just a flick of the metallic gold pen, here is the result. A simple, adorable and discrete way to tie in some shamrock love to your decor before spring officially hits.

I started with the plain white pots from Ikea (just $2!) and drew shamrocks all over it with my metallic gold pen. It’s a synch!

Now for some Penny-wise Wednesday deals!  If you live in the Nashville area, this first one’s for you. The Franklin Kmart is going out of business and they’re having incredible liquidation sales right now. In addition, you can grab this coupon to get your garden lookin’ pretty this spring. Next up is Pier1 Imports. All you have to do is sign up via email and presto, you get a coupon! And of course I couldn’t pass a Penny-wise Wednesday without giving you a craft coupon. Joann’s has this week’s crafty savings!
