Maybe it’s the fact that I’m pining a bit for spring (it snowed this morning… well, almost), or maybe it’s that several people in my life are looking to buy new homes, but I love the idea of throwing a house warming party. There’s nothing like lavishing love and gifts on friends who just dropped a large sum of money for their dream home (or at least their on-the-way-to-being dream home). After all, it’s one of the top five biggest determinations one will make in their lifetime.
Recently as I was reading through Psalms, I came across this passage in Psalm 104:15 that says, “And wine that makes glad the heart of a man, oil to make his face shine, and bread which strengthens a man’s heart.” I’ve been searching for the perfect, meaningful gift to give all of these friends who are becoming new home owners, and after reading this verse I thought, “That’s it!” What a lovely gift it will make to wrap up a bottle of wine (or sparkling cider for those who don’t drink wine), a bottle of olive oil and a fresh baked loaf of bread, all tied up with this scripture!

I’ve also been inspired to create a couple of house warming invitations, as well as some matching postcards to let the masses know your new address. This inspiration, I’m sure, came on the heels of my recent feature on my friend Kelli Trontel, which you can see here.
