diy sequin vase

As I write this, I’m sitting under the hair dryer at my hair salon waiting for my color to do it’s magic. I love the sweet gal who does my hair, Nichole. She’s spunky, kind-hearted and she totally knows what to do with the mop on my head. She also has an affinity for sparkle and shine. I have to say, I love shiny things. Chrome on my side table… the sparkly ocean on a sunny day… my engagement ring (of course!)… I love the shine and sparkle from light reflecting. So, it’s no surprise that these shiny sequins caught my eye at The Hob last week.sequin vase

I have an arsenal of DIY projects I’m excited to get going on this year, but I bumped this to the top of the list once I saw these sparkling little gems. I headed to The Dollar Tree and picked up this clear cylinder vase for, you guessed it, ONE DOLLAR.diy sequin vase

I needed a little pizzazz added to the spring mantel I’m working on this week, and this was going to satisfy the pizzazz factor just fine. I grabbed my hot glue gun and got to creating. I had original thought I might cover the entire vase with the sequins, but after the third row I really liked the “less is more” look. Simple, clean, sparkly and beautiful.diy sequin vase

Shiny things + The Dollar Tree = Awesome. Now I’m off to find some other ordinary object to glue these sequins to (my husband will be thrilled!). ;)
