‘Tis the season for babies, babies and more babies! YAY! It’s a wonderful thing to watch a mama prepare for her little bundle of joy to arrive. A few weeks ago I got to join other creative ladies in planning another shower for a soon-to-be-mama in our church, only this time it’s a boy! I have two nephews who are now ages nine and thirteen (can.not.believe.that!), so I remember what it was like when they were just itsy bitsy little babes. They are so much fun. They keep me laughing and are super creative and witty, especially for their ages. So I was delighted to celebrate this expectant mommy as she welcomes her wee one into the world.
There were six of us planning this shower together, so plenty of help for delegating all of the responsibilities. One of my favorite parts of the shower were these decadent and adorable cake pops and petit fours. They were SO cute, and of course I had to stray from my usual paleo ways to give each a taste. ;)
The decor was handled by my sweet friend Denise. She and I have talked many times about going into to business together. She’s brilliant with decor, flower arrangements and all things festive. For this shower, she went with simple green kermit mums in vases with bottles and candles as accents, and mason jars with pennant flags as centerpieces for the tables. It was sweet and beautiful.
The shower was over lunch, so we decided that simple salads and croissants would be best, along with some beverages. This is a simple way to make sure there is plenty of food if you’re hosting a larger party.
Each person received a shower favor at their place setting that I made with a scented tea light candle wrapped in fabric and twine, and we lavished the mommy-to-be with affirming words as well that was assembled into a little book for her to keep.
It was a sweet and joyful shower, and such a blessing to host as this li’l one enters our lives!
