Growing up I can remember sitting around the table practically every night for dinner. My mom would cook the most amazing meals (minus the lima beans), we would sit in our designated seats, pray and then dig in. I can remember sitting at the table for an unusually long amount of time until every lima bean was gone from my plate. My dad loves lima beans and peas. My sister didn’t like peas, and I didn’t like lima beans, so I’m pretty sure we did a silent swap from time to time (sorry mom!).

Since the home is meant to place of value and purity, there’s something significant about coming together around the table. It’s a place where families connect, children learn, joy is shared, and restoration happens. I’m a big advocate of family dinners not just because my hubz is the king of awesome in the kitchen, but because it’s a time that honors God and causes us to take time to be with those we love. It’s high on my list of priorities, as well as my list of favorites!
