how to organize your recipes + free printables

I’ve loved getting to discover new recipes over the last several months since going paleo. It’s so interesting, but my pallet has even changed. Granted, I still love sweet treats every so often, but my tastes have morphed to appreciate the paleo way. Since the hubs is the main chef in our home, he has a plethora of recipes that he’s tried, some are awesome, and some less-than-awesome (not due to his cooking expertise, of course!). He is a master when it comes to trying new recipes. With this masterfulness comes the occasional smudge, glop or drip of whatever he’s cooking onto his recipe.

He keeps them in a stack on the top shelf in the pantry. He has to shuffle through the stack every time he’s looking for a specific recipe. Needless to say, it’s not the most ideal of situations. So, I’ve determined that in order to help this man-cook, I’m going to put my super powers in the art of organization to work and get his recipes organized.

First, I created these printable recipe cards and I’ll transfer each of the recipes onto the cards. They’re 5.5″ wide by 4.25″ high so all four can be printed onto an 8 1/2×11″ sheet of heavy cardstock. {Click the images below to download for yourself!}

Then I created these divider cards that will pop up nicely in between the recipe cards. These are about 1.25″ wide by 4.75″ high and I’ll print them onto heavy cardstock as well. {Click the image below to download all nine divider cards: entrees, appetizers, soups & salads, sweet treats, grains, sides, beverages, and two blank.}

And to pull it all together, I found this adorable wooden recipe box that I will likely be asking my dad, who is a woodworking genius, to create for me. {You can purchase this one on Etsy by clicking the image below.}

I’m really looking forward to this little project’s completion, as well as to all the new recipes we’re yet to find!
